BBQ Bob’s Smoked Thanksgiving Turkey

Ingredients

  • 14-16 lb turkey
  • BBQ Bob’s Alpha BBQ Rub
  • Olive Oil
  • Kosher Salt
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Fresh thyme
  • 2 sticks salted butter
  • Garlic paste

Preparation

  1. Set smoker to 300 degrees
  2. Make your BBQ butter by melting two sticks of salted butter in a pan and adding two tsp. of BBQ Bob’s Alpha BBQ Rub and 1 tsp. of garlic paste
  3. Place two small chunks or one handful of smoke wood chips into the coals once you reach 300F
  4. 15 minutes later place turkey in a throw away aluminum roasting pan, breast side up and lightly brush with olive oil. Season the bird with Alpha BBQ Rub
  5. Cook the turkey in the pan for approx 3-5 hours or until the breast temp reaches 160-165 and the leg/thigh portion reaches 185F
  6. Pour off your drippings to make a gravy for the turkey. Also serve some warm BBQ Bob’s Hav'N a BBQ Sauce on the side to give your guests a choice
  7. Let it rest 15-20 minutes before carving
