Open Face Pulled Smoked Turkey with Melted Gruyere

Ingredients

  • 1 small whole turkey (10-12 lbs.) See BBQ Bob’s Turkey Recipe at bbqguru.com
  • 3 oz. turkey gravy
  • 6 oz. BBQ Bob’s Original BBQ sauce
  • 4 oz. cranberry sauce
  • 2 oz. honey
  • ½ lb. Gruyere cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Thick cut white bread (I use the local bakery loafs and cut them myself)

Preparation

  1. Melt down 4 oz. of canned cranberry sauce in a small pot, add the honey and 6 oz. of BBQ Bob’s Original Sauce to the pot. Stir well then add 3 oz. of turkey gravy to the sauce. Let simmer for 5 minute on low heat. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Melt Gruyere cheese in a sauce pan and keep warm.
  3. Once turkey has cook and cooled down, remove the meat and pull part into a medium size bowl.
  4. Add some drippings from the pan back into the pulled turkey
  5. Add salt, pepper and garlic.
  6. Add some of the warm cranberry bbq sauce to the pulled turkey and stir in.
  7. Toast the thick cut bread slices with a touch of butter until light brown.
  8. Place a mound of pulled turkey on each slice of toasted bread, top with melted gruyere cheese and drizzle on some more cranberry bbq sauce. Serve open faced.
